Today on Sounds Of Brass.

I feature A Whit Friday Special!

Playing my Favourite Marches that you should hear on the day, to wet your appetite before the big day on Friday 24th May 2024

Eleven band contests take place on the evening of Whit Friday and, although very close geographically, they are completely independent of each other. Each contest has its own rules, organisation and prizes, however bands who compete in at least six of the contests are then eligible to win one of the coveted Saddleworth and Oldham Whit Friday Band Contest Area Prizes.

A Post Card From The North East 20th April

Sat, 20 Apr 2024

Join me Rob Collinson for my show "A Postcard From The North East" here on Sounds of Brass. I'm Rob Collinson and I'm a composer/arranger based in County Durham. Although I'm entering my fiftieth year as a "bander" my work isn't exclusively for brass bands. Each hour-long show will have "featured" and "guest" bands, with the occasional "showcase" thrown into the mix. You'll hear familiar and not so familiar bands and music drawn from my personal experience. Look forward to your company. See you soon!

Sounds Of Brass with Annie 19th April

Fri, 19 Apr 2024

With Annie Dehaney-Steven, Presenter.

This week - Strawberry Fair to Hollywood! to Jupiter - quite a journey!

Annie, lives in east London and plays in two north London bands; cornet for one and, latterly, sop (the Devil's cornet) for the other. Brass band was her first love, but she is as often found hanging around with jazz as a singer and event host.
