The Digital Domain Online Radio Show

What a show! Let’s not bury the lead here: this episode lasted more than 3 hours and is the longest episode since the 20th anniversary show. It fits, as 24 years ago today was the first time Nick and Bob ever actively tried—even if without any skill—to promote something called ‘The Digital Domain Online Radio Show’. With a brief nod to the week that was in the form of a brief discussion about the weekend’s Nor’easter, and a small technical discussion via Jayson, the theme of this episode was the show itself, or, as Tabitha coined it, ‘No, we’re not doing Origins…’ A large part of that came in the first hour, as Nick and Bob requested favorite moments from the listeners. In the third hour, memories were gamified, as they played ‘Show Roulette,’ a game in which the listeners would pick a random Friday before 2023… If an episode occurred on that date, Nick would jump to a random point in that episode and see what happened. The archives selected by the listeners were January 29, 2016; and the classic, Those two hours sandwich the second, dominated by a story Nick and Bob had AI write and voice. What would happen if, on a random Wednesday, Nick and Bob switched bodies? It’s a showcase of the latest and greatest, as well as an absolute blast to listen to—the listeners loved it, even in spite of the considerable length. As much as anything, this show celebrates the considerable achievement of lasting these 24 years… Here’s hoping the 25th year brings even more fun. This episode is all over the place…OK, they all are, but this one especially might, partly stemming from a rant Monty had at a certain large ISP, which caused a sociological discussion which nearly broke one of this show’s few boundaries…And also showed just how much of a pessimist Nick is. And yet, it got silly as the result of Bob – he had a night in which he got incredibly stoned/drunk and did things with a golf cart. However, what didn’t he do? Find out because Nick won’t let Bob forget it. With an anniversary coming up next week, Nick and Bob went into the archives to play a bit that hasn’t aired since they did it back in 2016. Music brings a few discussions – Mona had a request for a song she wanted Bob’s reaction to which fostered a discussion of that track as well as Classic Rock in general, and Nick needed to play a track from a metal adjacent lady who has a brain tumor who happens to be a figure in this show’s history. All that plus phone calls and messages a plenty…It’s what nick and Bob like to call a ‘stretchy show’ and it’s here for your downloading pleasure.

This was a very weird episode. How weird? It starts out with a feature Bob used to do every week but hasn’t done in years. Nick bought new headphones…Which ones? How does he like them? And what relationship does this have with a previous show topic that isn’t so obvious? What mysteriously appeared in Bob's back yard overnight last week, and what did his mother do as a result? Bob will tell you the story. After an originally aborted attempt, Jayson’s got a question for Bob…does he understand a particular sentence? You’ll hear it. John Moore was inspired by Nick’s playing with nursery rhymes last week, but did it cause the expected reactions? Bob saw John Fogerty and Steve Winwood in concert over the weekend and has some amazing audio thanks to a phenomenal mix. But this led to an amusing subject and a question…We’ll leave that to you. All that plus phone calls and messages…it was a bit different and worth a download on that alone.

What does ‘Wee Willie Winkie’ have to do with one of Nick’s financial decisions? If you download this archive, you will find out, given that the old nursery rhyme was involved in a test, the results of which you’ll hear on the show. Kevin Reeves may have produced an amusing way to think about the Digital Domain, as evidenced by a clip from Sonic Synergy that broke everyone there. Finally, while Bob celebrated the birthday of one of his best friends – a song from whom he played – the same song also served as a gateway to a September 11 discussion with listeners. Nick, however, suggests downloading the episode from which is in many ways the finest recollection of that day that Nick and Bob produced. Last day of August and we’re coming upon the end of summer – Labor Day is next week, folks. The question Bob asks…What are you going to remember about Summer 2026? Listeners answer…or in Nick’s case, specifically declines to answer. What happened during one of Bob’s gigs that would’ve been a perfect way to mess with him…had it been done on purpose? There’s audio. Old friend Liam has generated a Suno song that genuinely broke everyone who heard it, especially Bob…But what about? What wedding-related gig should never have been booked, and how did another wedding DJ torture John Moore? You’ll find out. Nick’s been down the Treasure Hunt rabbit hole and found a particularly ridiculous example from the 1981 revival, showing it to the listeners. Finally…Broadcaster funnies again, this time a weather man who got a ridiculous case of the giggles. Was he high? You be the judge.
