#264 The Soul Damn ‘Phisticated! Radio Show - Sunday, March 8th, 2026

Tue, 10 Mar 2026

Some radio shows are built like a playlist. Others move more like a conversation between records. This week’s edition of The Soul Damn ‘Phisticated! Radio Show leans firmly into that second lane, gliding between rare groove, neo-soul, and classic funk with easy confidence.

The journey begins with Dayton setting the tone with the Sound Of Music, a track that feels like stepping into a room where the bassline already knows your name. O'Bryan brings that unmistakable 80s synth-soul glow on Right From The Start, while Gladys Knight & The Pips deliver dancefloor sophistication.

There’s a strong thread of groove archaeology running through the middle of the show. Seven Minutes Of Funk from The Whole Darn Family remains one of the most sampled and beloved funk workouts ever pressed to vinyl. Moonchild glide in with Nothing to Prove, while newer voices like Flo Naegeli and Harry Linacre sit comfortably alongside established names, proving once again that soul music isn’t stuck in the past.

Turn it up, pour something good in your cup, and let the music do what it’s always done best.

#263 The Soul Damn ‘Phisticated! Radio Show - Sunday March 1st, 2026

Tue, 10 Mar 2026

On this edition of The Soul Damn ‘Phisticated! Radio Show we take a relaxed cruise through soul, deep groove and a few timeless classics along the way. It’s the kind of playlist that fits perfectly with a slow Sunday morning or an easy afternoon, letting the music do what soul music does best.

We open with Sincerely Do by Jill Scott, a smooth way to ease into the vibe before things start picking up with Ring The Bell by Harry Linacre and I Thought About Love by Keith Eatmon, two modern soul cuts with plenty of style.
There’s more fresh soul in the mix from artists like Moonchild, Slowe, and Flo Naegeli, showing just how strong the current soul scene really is.

As the show rolls on, the groove deepens with tracks from MF Robots, a preview from their forthcoming III Part One, add the silky vocals of Will Downing and the mood settles nicely into a soulful groove.

There’s also a moment where soul history loops back on itself; Alicia Keys, provides a reminder of how today’s artists keep the classic sounds alive.

All in all, it’s a laid-back mix of new soul, classic grooves and a few musical connections along the way.
Press play, turn it up - a lot, and enjoy the ride.

#262 The Soul Damn ‘Phisticated! Radio Show - Sunday February 15th, 2026

Tue, 10 Mar 2026

This week’s show was another easy ride through the good stuff… soul, rare groove, deep funk and a few timeless tracks that never lose their shine, tunes that fit perfectly with a slow Sunday morning, coffee in hand and the speakers doing their thing.

We kicked things off with Glenn Jones and the stripped-back “Show Me (Live On-Air Unplugged at Kiss FM NY)”. A smooth, soulful and a perfect way to ease into the show.  The late Lynden David Hall stepped in with “Are We Still Cool?” – a reminder of just how special his voice was.

There was plenty of newer soul in the mix too, Cleo Sol kept things warm with “Miss Romantic”, and Moonchild & PJ Morton added a thoughtful moment with “Fear (Hey Friend).”  We picked up the  groove with Em-Cee’s “Feel Good!” doing exactly what it says on the tin, while Ernie & The Family McKone kept the energy bubbling with “That Girl.”

A little crate-digging took us back to some serious foundations with The Skull Snaps, Cymande, and Fred Wesley & The JB’s

As we entered the final part of the show the vibe settled into something a little deeper with Omar’s “Latin Salsa”, Slowe’s new offering “How Hard Can It Be?”, and some Chaka Khan  before closing out with Marvin Gaye’s  “I Want You”, and the signature “Thank You Thank You.”  with gratitude.

Another show and another stack of great music. If you like your soul with a bit of depth, groove and history in the mix, this one’s definitely worth a listen – until next time . . .
